Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Group
Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in power within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the actions of episode 3 show why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.
The traitor then cleared his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- However, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the group enter locations they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in search of the traitor.

Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group will be absent next week, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Seekers and Planners tables.
