A man who spiked sweets with sedative and distributed them to minors at a summer camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual crimes against two young males who were between nine and ten.
The defendant was detained after eight minors and an older person became sick at the facility in the summer month.
The 76-year-old, from that region, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he refused to admit one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was concerning a young boy.
The accused was held in detention prior to a further hearing on late November.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, described Ruben's offending to the legal proceedings.
She explained his those affected were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a youth camp which he ran.
The defendant conducted a "treat game" with the minors, Mrs Prior said, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were settling down and tell them to consume candy "rapidly".
She informed the proceedings the man had conducted this practice with the boys "over an extended period", and youngsters had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.
She stated the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had suspicions in summer 2025.
The legal representative stated further: "In the summer" his stepchild had suspicions about the situation, for good reason.
"They decided to examine in the man's possessions."
Mrs Prior KC explained materials including baby oil, ointment and injection devices were discovered, and his stepson alerted the police about his concerns.
She said the defendant proceeded to play the "sweet game" with six children that time - that Saturday - and they were everyone unwell the next day.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that point," she added.
The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was reviewing law enforcement's management of the events.
The legal representative explained the minors were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson notified the law enforcement once more.
She stated the defendant then engaged in the "treat game" in a area of five youngsters.
