Vinted Shoppers Share Displeasure Regarding Size Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Response
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification than originally posted because of the remapping.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Modifications
Previously, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Stories
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she said.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
